The start is the end
Hockenheim – Strong on Friday, strong on Saturday, empty hands on Sunday. The frustration of Nico Hulkenberg and the Williams Team is understandable, especially since it looked pretty well before the Race on Sunday. But the start was already the end of all hopes to end up in a good place.
The “Hulk” lost three places within the first lap, and dropped back behind Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) in P13, Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber) and Vitaly Petrov (Renault) moved past the Williams drivers.
Throughout a first long stint Nico Hulkenberg tried to make up some time."But unfortunately that didn’t work out, because the soft tires worn off too quickly," said the “Hulk”. The result was that the 22-year-old was in P13 after his stop. Although the lap times were as fast then as the leading group, the Emmericher couldn’t gain a position.
"This is disappointing. We were all very optimistic, because the weekend has started well”, said the “Hulk”. "Being without points is not what we had hoped for."
Fernando Alonso secured the victory, ahead of Felipe Massa (both Ferrari) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull). Rubens Barrichello was twelfth in the second Williams.
