Desire for more
Hockenheim – Nico Hulkenberg was really fast after the free practice. A short sprint to the motor home, he changed from his overall into the Williams shirt, and there he was at the FIA press conference. But he also made the pace on the track in free practice for the GP of Germany in Hockenheim.
The “Hulk” made a strong impression on Friday and finished with a time of 1:17.204 in P10. The gap to Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) was 0.939 seconds.
"It all looks pretty good," said the "Hulk". "We have again made a step forward." This is the result of hard work - the 22-year-old worked late into the evening with his engineers. "We were brainstorming together on how we can make even more progress," so the "Hulk". "It seems to pay off."
It is the goal to get into the top ten for tomorrow's qualifying – the whole team has a strong desire for more. "We want to be as good as possible, hopefully we can make it into the top ten", said the "Hulk".

Nico Hülkenberg ist in seinem ersten Formel-1-Rennen auf Platz 14 gefahren. Der Williams-Pilot fiel früh ans Ende des Klassements zurück und musste sich nach vorne kämpfen. Der Sieg ging an Fernando Alonso vor Felipe Massa (beide Ferrari) und Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).
"Das war natürlich nicht ideal", sagte "Hülk", der nach seinem Dreher in der fünften Runde Probleme hatte. "Ich musste sehr hart kämpfen." Dennoch arbeitete sich der 22-Jährige von dem letzten Platz immerhin noch auf Rang 14 vor.
Den Blick nach vorne richten
"Wichtig ist, dass ich ins Ziel gefahren bin und weiter Erfahrung gesammelt habe", meinte "Hülk". "Jetzt müssen wir den Blick nach vorne richten und in Australien wieder neu angreifen."
Insgesamt war der Saison-Opener in Bahrain nicht von viel Action geprägt. An der Spitze profiitierten die Ferrari von einem technischen Problem an Sebastian Vettels Red Bull, der von der Spitze auf Rang vier zurückfiel. "Hülks" Teamkollege Rubens Barrichello holte als Zehnter einen Punkt für Williams.
