Mixed feelings
Sepang – Nico Hulkenberg collected his first championship point in Formula 1 at the GP in Malaysia. The Williams driver finished the race in 10th position under dry conditions.
"I am happy about my first point," said the "Hulk" but with mixed feelings. "I would have hoped for a slightly better result."
From the beginning, the "Hulk" had problems from the start, which cost him two positions. In addition, his only pit stop did not go to plan. The dominant Ferrari and McLaren rolled up the field from behind and overtook the Emmericher, who was also overtaken by Jaime Alguersuari in the Toro Rosso. "I had problems with the rear tires," said Nico, "We must continue to work hard."
In the end, the "Hulk" benefited from the engine failure of Alonso’s Ferrari, by which the rookie slipped into tenth place just before the end of the race. The victory was secured by Sebastian Vettel, in front of his team mate Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Nico Rosberg in the Mercedes.

Nico Hülkenberg ist in seinem ersten Formel-1-Rennen auf Platz 14 gefahren. Der Williams-Pilot fiel früh ans Ende des Klassements zurück und musste sich nach vorne kämpfen. Der Sieg ging an Fernando Alonso vor Felipe Massa (beide Ferrari) und Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).
"Das war natürlich nicht ideal", sagte "Hülk", der nach seinem Dreher in der fünften Runde Probleme hatte. "Ich musste sehr hart kämpfen." Dennoch arbeitete sich der 22-Jährige von dem letzten Platz immerhin noch auf Rang 14 vor.
Den Blick nach vorne richten
"Wichtig ist, dass ich ins Ziel gefahren bin und weiter Erfahrung gesammelt habe", meinte "Hülk". "Jetzt müssen wir den Blick nach vorne richten und in Australien wieder neu angreifen."
Insgesamt war der Saison-Opener in Bahrain nicht von viel Action geprägt. An der Spitze profiitierten die Ferrari von einem technischen Problem an Sebastian Vettels Red Bull, der von der Spitze auf Rang vier zurückfiel. "Hülks" Teamkollege Rubens Barrichello holte als Zehnter einen Punkt für Williams.
